Users were quick to accept the offering of two-steps authentication. The two-steps authentication is an extra layer of protection for accounts with login.

How the built-in Facebook authenticator works

Securing and maintaining networks, the user account is of importance to both individuals and organizations. Organizations do well to look after their internal networks and those of their employees. Because hackers apply dubious but intelligent strategies to achieve a nefarious act.

The Facebook authenticator protects facebook account from unauthorized entry or access. This is done by provision of an extra layer of security. It invariably means that your account cannot be accessed without access to your mobile device.

Enabling two-step authentication on Facebook

There is two authentication path to choose from either (SMS) codes or a third-party authentication app. A third-party authentication app includes apps such as Google Authenticator or LastPass. These apps generate login codes that help us confirm login access.

To use a third-party authentication app for login codes:

  • Install the third-party authentication app of choice.
  • On your Facebook account go to your Security and Login Settings.
  • Then find and click on Use two-factor authentication.
  • Click “Get Started” and Enter password if prompted.
  • Select Authentication App.
  • Then Follow the on-screen instructions.

To turn on text message (SMS) login codes for your mobile phone:

  • Launch your browser.
  • go to www.facebook.com and enter your Facebook login
  • On your Facebook account.
  • Go to your Security and Login Settings.
  • Then find and click on Use two-factor authentication.
  • Click “Get Started” and Enter password if prompted.
  • Select Text Message
  • Then Follow the on-screen instructions.

Once you’ve set up the text message (SMS) codes, you can also provide more security with features such as trusted contacts or recovery codes.
